The Cayman Islands Financial Services Association (CIFSA) and the PR Unit of the Portfolio of Finance & Economics are proud to announce the launch of a public service campaign, under the banner 'Its Everybody's Business' designed to reach out to the general public and provide a glimpse inside the world of the Financial Services sector in Cayman.

"According to research we conducted, many people feel disconnected from our industry" says Eduardo Silva of CIFSA. "They see the financial sector as being detached from the rest of the islands and do not see how it is relevant to their daily lives. Our goal with this community focused program of speaking events to public groups, supported by newspaper and radio ads and our new website is to give people more information about the industry and how integral it is to the community and culture of Cayman."

In his dual roles as Minister of Education and Minister for International Financial Services Policy, the Honourable Alden McLaughlin said: "Cayman's thriving financial services sector offers a great many opportunities for young Caymanians within the legal, accounting, finance, administration and insurance sectors. It is imperative that we educate our young people about the career choices available to them and enable them to access these opportunities within the local labour market."

In fact, Mr. Silva points out that many scholarships offered by local firms go unused each year. "The only logical reason that students are not taking advantage of such generous programs" he speculates, "would seem to be lack of knowledge about the programs and the wide variety of career paths available within the industry."

But it is not just students who can benefit from a greater understanding of the industry and what it means to the islands. According to Mr. Ormond Williams of Cayman National Bank, "All citizens and residents of the Cayman Islands would benefit from a better appreciation of how the financial services industry has become so tightly woven into the social, cultural, and economic tapestry that makes up Cayman. Cayman National is proud to be a sponsor of this important campaign along with many other prominent firms in the industry."

In order to better inform the community about the financial services industry, CIFSA has created a new website,, that will provide more detailed information about the industry, its opportunities, and its social and cultural contributions. The site is still in early development stage and is planned to grow and evolve over time with input from the public on what types of information they would like to find there.
