Portfolio of Finance & Economics

Mr Jefferson is currently Financial Secretary of the Portfolio of Finance and Economics of the Cayman Islands Government with oversight of all aspects of the government’s regulatory, fiscal and budget management operations. He assumed his duties on 1 November 2004.

Prior to being appointed Financial Secretary, Mr Jefferson was Deputy Financial Secretary and before that Assistant Financial Secretary with responsibilities for budgetary and audit aspects of the Portfolio, a position he assumed in 2000. Mr. Jefferson joined the civil service in 1994 as an Audit Manager.

Prior to joining the civil service, Mr. Jefferson worked in public accounting in both the Cayman Islands and London, England for Price Waterhouse (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) and Ernst & Young. He earned his qualifications with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) in 1991.

Mr. Jefferson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Hull in England.
